Why Carrie Underwood Says She’s “Alice Cooper Barbie”

That’s how Carrie Underwood explained those glitter tears she has painted on her face in the new video for her “Cry Pretty,” directed by Randee St. Nicholas.

alice cooper and Carrie Underwood

“When I was thinking about visual things for ‘Cry Pretty,’ that’s just something I saw in my head,” Underwood told Cody Alan during an exclusive CMT Hot 20 Countdown interview. She said that those tears turned the idea of the song into something artful and good. “I call myself Alice Cooper Barbie,” she said of her slight resemblance to glam-rock, shock-rock legend of the 1970s.

During the interview from Underwood’s first full show of the year, at the Live in the Vineyard festival in Napa Valley, she opened up on her love of wine (“It was not a tough decision to agree to be a part of this”) and on the state of things on her upcoming album (“We’ve been in the studio quite a bit, and I’m kind of putting the finishing touches on the new album”).

That album, due out in September, is Underwood’s sixth since she debuted with Some Hearts in 2005. But it’s the first time she’s played the part of a producer.

“I was listening to the songs that we had been writing and the stuff I’d been gravitating towards,” she said, “and I wanted to take a little more ownership in things.” Underwood is producing Cry Pretty with friend and collaborator David Garcia. His first few country projects include Kip Moore’s “More Girls Like You” and the Bebe Rexha/Florida Georgia Line hit “Meant to Be.”

ALICE COOPER Wanted To 'Steal' TOMMY LEE From MOTLEY CRUE

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper recently spoke to NME about sharing the stage with Motley Crue as part of "The Final Tour" last of the band, which began last year and will end on New Year's Eve at the Staples Center in Los Angeles after one more round of concerts in North America.

Talking about what he liked about the 'scene 80 "hair metal" Cooper said (see video below): "There was Guns N' Roses and Motley Crue and Cinderella and POISON and all these bands, and what more I she liked was that it was ostentatious -  ... it was very glitz and glamor And when MTV started, so it was the perfect start for a show three minutes glitzy, glam rock and roll So all these bands were looking very good, had to play well, they had to have hit songs. I mean, that's a very good combination. "

He continued: "Motley Crue suddenly were these guys who seemed girls and were all the girls in town digging, and that was his image And everyone went, 'Well, what's wrong with that that seems right. Idea. '"

Cooper added: "What impressed me most about Motley Crüe was Tommy [Lee], the drummer looked and said, 'Jesus, the battery is really good.'.

"A singer in a band always looks and says, 'Who can I steal outside this band drummer that was already on my list I said:" If this band is broken, I am grabbing this guy.' "

Legend Beatles Paul McCartney, actor Johnny Depp and AEROSMITH Joe Perry makes appearances on the upcoming album by Alice Cooper songs that were originally written and recorded by The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon and The Who - members of the " Hollywood Vampires "early and mid-70s Perry has contributed to several tracks on the CD, while McCartney will hear a new version of" Come And Get It ", a song he wrote and produced for BADFINGER.

ALICE COOPER On Vinyl Resurgence: Kids Are Tired Of Buying Air

Earlier this week, Ned radio station FM 97.9 WGRD in Grand Rapids, Michigan conducted an interview with Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and the legendary rocker Alice Cooper. You can now listen to the chat below.

When asked if he thinks any of the current crop of rock bands have the potential to leave a legacy that is comparable to those of Mötley Crüe and Alice Cooper, Alice replied :. "It's a different world [now] we were in a golden age where records ... ... you go to a record store and buy records. And when you bought the records, ownership of a piece of Motley Crue, you own a piece of ALICE COOPER. And you stand in line to buy this album. I think now, is so disposable. Bands remain about a year and a half, and you really can not devote his life to them, because you know they will not be around next year While with Motley and ALICE, there is a security that;. there is no guarantee that these bands will be there for a long time. "

Cooper also talked about the sudden resurgence of records in recent years, which has resulted in an increase of more than-50-percent sales during between 2013 and 2014 alone.

"Last year, vinyl rose 85 percent," Alice said. "And the children, I think they are tired of buying air. They have nothing to her. I think that this generation rebels against the technological. I sign more records than CDs do anymore."

According to Nielsen Soundscan, more than 9.2 million vinyl records were sold in the US last year, an increase of 52 percent over 2013 figures. In the first quarter of this year, sales of vinyl records were 53 percent higher than Q1 2014, driven by a 66 percent increase in album sales catalog (albums that have been released for at least 18 months) during the same period.

Vinyl record sales have grown 260 percent since 2009.

Mötley Crüe announced 21 more North American dates. The new shows will take place in October and December as part of two years of the band "The Final Tour" cycle. Race Motley Crue tour will end on the eve of New Year, December 31 at Staples Center in his hometown of Los Angeles, where the band began 34 years ago.
